Summer wildflower walk at Lydiard Park
Free walk at Lydiard - THIS WEEKEND
Walkers can learn more about the wildflowers in Lydiard Park courtesy of a free guided walk this weekend.
John Ball, who works for Lydiard Park’s gardening team, will lead a tour around the Swindon Borough Council-owned parkland on Sunday (July 4) picking out and identifying different wildflowers that can be seen around the lakes, woodlands and open fields.
As part of the recent restoration programme at Lydiard Park, many beautiful native wildflowers have been reintroduced to the park and the walk will offer the chance to enjoy an afternoon stroll to find and identify these plants.
The walk starts at 2.30pm and booking is essential.
Anyone wishing to take part in the walk should meet outside the café at the park.
The walk will take about two hours and will be led at a gentle pace over mostly level accessible paths.
Those taking part are asked to wear appropriate footwear and clothes plus a hat or sunscreen depending on the weather conditions.
For more information on the walk or to book a place, please call Lydiard Park on 01793 770401.
